Katie Ashelford Leyden: OT Assistant

Days available: Monday (AM), Tuesday (AM), Wednesday (AM) & Thursday

Hi, I’m Katie! (to avoid confusion with the wonderful Kate).

I live locally with my 2 girls, aged 8 and 10 years old. I have been working with children in the Early Learning and Care sector for the last 15+ years first, as a Diploma trained Educator, then as an Early Childhood Teacher and Director of various centres. Before transitioning to Early Learning and Care I trained as a Naturopath.

With all the changes brought to children through COVID-19, I have discovered a passion for supporting children’s sensory needs and am transitioning into the Occupational Therapy field by studying my Masters of Occupational Therapy at the University of Sydney. I LOVE to learn and have participated in a variety of professional learning on how to support the sensory and emotional needs of children through regulation approaches that get the body moving and building a sense of awareness of what is happening in the body in order for children to build their emotional knowledge.

I am very excited to work with the amazing team at Unique Kids Clinic and support the wonderful children and their families.
